Skippers Swap Meet Stash

Ahoy there mates! Let me tell you about my 3 hour tour! My 3 hour tour... Okay, it was actually 2 hours. Sit right back and you will hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip.

A Swap Meet trip that is... Starring The Skipper! Or Movie Star.  You decide.

I think I might have just found the start to my Halloween costume this year! I've always wanted to be a Sailor for Halloween. Now my dream is going to come true!  Of course I might just "Ginger" it up a bit. What? You know you would too. The sailor hat came home with me for $0.50!

This painting stow away came home with me for $2. The seller actually wanted $3, but I negotiated. It might just be my favorite item of the day!

It has now been swabbed and battened down. It's actually larger than it appears in this photo. It is the perfect mate to our pirate theme (wo)man cave. :0)

Here is the S.S. Minnow. I also purchased a full length mirror for $1, black spray paint $0.25 and a few clothing items for $0.50 each.

The natives seem restless. ;0)

This lovely bouquet cost $2. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but I had the perfect spot for them.

See, told ya.

This is what it looked like before. I had brought in some outdoor branches to add a bit of height and interest. I like my $2 bouquet much better.

I had a few left over stragglers that I added to a cowboy boot mug I have. Perfect fit.

I purchased these lady bug rain boots for my niece for $2. I actually bought her a lady bug raincoat for $1 at a yard sale recently. Now she has the perfect set. She adores lady bugs and I adore her.

This mini rake cost $1. I actually never seen one of these until today. Now it is mine. Mine I tell you!

The CEO of Flower Gloves and Rubber Boots can never have too many gardening tools. It states so in the Employee Handbook. ;0)

One cannot put a price on a mothers love. Though, the seller did. This picture came home with me for $1.

It actually had a Bed Bath & Beyond tag of $19.99.  I like my $1 buying price much better.

This butterfly pillow flew home with me for $1.

This iron hook cost $0.35. I was thinking of hanging necklaces on it. I'm not sure yet though.

I give a thumbs up on this haul! Till next time my castaways!

My Dangerous Swap Meet Haul

Hello friends! I thought I would share some of my recent buys from my latest Swap Meet trip. My morning didn't start off too well. I was using an apple slicer to cut an apple as my afternoon snack, when it broke and jammed into the palms of my hands (who knew those were so dangerous). Though, I didn't let my injuries stop me and I continued on with my Swap Meet trip (bandages and all). I know, I'm a trooper.

Once I arrived at the Swap Meet and unloaded my shopping cart, I started walking towards the entrance eating an apple slice, watching a car decide which way to turn, and walking down a bit of a slope when I fell to one knee and ended up putting a lot of my weight onto my shopping cart and breaking a wheel off it.
Sad, sad, injured Leslie. :0(

I came this far! Cut palms, a scuffed knee, torn pants and a broken wheel off my shopping cart was not going to deter me now! I am woman! Hear me roar! Make way Swap Meet Shoppers! I'm coming through!

Shortly after I arrived I bought this $1 wood clock that put things back into perspective. It says "Joy". I do have lots to be joyful about, regardless of the rough start to my day.

And these two love birds for $0.50 each had me singing a happier tune. :0)

This $2 iron Ferris Wheel picture frame holder that spins reminded me of good times.

The $2 Ferris Wheel might just be my favorite buy of the day. :0)

Someone very special to me recently told me exactly what this picture says. It had to come home with me for $0.50. It's already hanging pretty in our bedroom.

This oh so cute snowman put a big smile on my face. The top portion of his body screws off and candy can be put in his tum tum. He came home with me for $0.50.

This bouquet of felt artificial poinsettias cost $0.50. They had a tag for $9.99 original price. I like my $0.50 buying price much better.  Notice my injury? Ouch. :0(

This really large picture frame cost $1! What a deal! I plan on painting the glass with chalkboard paint and using it as a chalkboard in the dining room. Yippie! love it! :0)

This really nice curtain rod with screw off ends cost $2. It's already being used in the spare room. I was going to paint the ends black, but didn't after all. They went well with the curtains we have in there as is. Yay!

I bought these wood curtain rings for $1. They also came with wood napkin holders. The bag was $1 for all. Not too shabby. :0)

I'm not sure if these are originally used for what I have in mind for them. They were $0.50 each.

I'm always looking for ways to get more organized and display my items more functionally. I thought scarf organization! Yes, please!

This grape vine picture frame cost $0.50. But you didn't hear it from me! ;0)

This Anniversary Picture reminded me of hubby and I. Cost $0.50!

How sweet! I just love being married, it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. :0)

I also purchased a kitchenaid pan $0.50, swiffer wet jet mop $1, a pink cloth storage bin $0.50, a milk glass jewelry holder $0.50 and a few items of clothing for $0.50 each.

Till next time my frugal visitors. Or till I fix the wheel on my shopping cart! Travel cautiously. ;0)

My Awesome La-Z-Boy! And No, It's Not My Husband!

Look what we scored off of Craigslist for $25! A La-Z-Boy Glider Recliner!  I love the Vintage look if it.  Now my husband isn't the laziest boy in our household! It's a title Hubby is more than happy to give up.  But Leslie? Why are you in need of a glider/recliner? Well, it's a secret I'm not telling. Not yet anyway. ;0)

I stumbled upon this blue gem on Craigslist with a reasonable selling price of $30. Though, I negotiated and it came home with me for $25. I believe it was worth every penny. I thought this baby boy was looking very sad and blue sitting outside on the dirt among the weeds. It hitched a ride home with me and now the sky seems to have never looked so blue.

It has already had a very thorough cleaning. Though, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't cover all the scratches on the arms with Old English Scratch Cover that I like to use. So, I am going to have to touch up the arms with actual stain. Which, should be a fairly easy project to do.

Here it is looking all stud muffin like. I've already stained the arms. Ooh baby, you are all that and then some!  :0)

In my continued search I spotted it's twin sister!  A pretty in velvet pink La-Z-Girl being sold for $30 on Craigslist! The ad mentions they have two and will sell both for $50! If I had the room, I would want a pink one as well. I heart it. Though, I'm satisfied with my turquoise leather handsome boy.

I also spotted this velvet green rocking chair on Craigslist being sold for $50. A bit more than I would like to pay and not exactly our style, but I thought it was just groovy baby! I just adore velvet furniture.

Well, that's going to be it for this post. Time for me to kick off my sandals and relax with my lazy boy (hubby) and my blue La-Z-Boy (glider)!  Rock On my friends!

Are You Feeling Lucky Punk?

I'm looking good and feeling good! Hubby is at work making the bacon and I'm about to be out and about spending the bacon! I got on my Lucky Shirt, my favorite hat and my Mickey Mouse Mug is filled to the rim with yummy coffee. Life is good. What more can I ask for? I'm a simple girl after all.

Leave it to me to find the only Swap Meet located in San Diego, Ca open on Wednesday. As well as Saturday and Sunday of course. You can thank me later...

I have arrived at the South Bay Swap Meet and I am in search of some inexpensive goods. What I am hoping to find are curtain rods and brackets, 6 matching curtain panels, a vintage lamp shade, candles, decorative hooks, a water sprinkler, pruning sheers, garden gloves, and anything else that might tickle my fancy.

Out of that long list all I found was a $1 Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Candle. Due to me having it lit and it smelling so tasty, Hubby actually thought I had baked when he got home. Sorry to disappoint you Hubsters. I can only be so terrific.

My goods were a Kitchen Aid Baking Sheet for $1, Swiffer Jet Wood Mopping Solution for $1, Mesh Bag $1, Snack Bag $0.50, Thanks Giving Turkey Decor $0.50, Ceramic Bird $1 and a whole load of very pretty vintage blouses for $0.50 each.

This is the $1 mesh bag.  These are the only shopping bags I take to the swap meet in my shopping cart. They are very handy to have and don't damage easily. When shopping at the swap, you always want to bring some sort of bag to carry your goods. Not all sellers will be able to provide a bag with purchase.

How sweet is this $0.50 Snack Sac(k)? This totally caught the apple of my eye. Especially because I took a cut apple with me on my shopping spree and didn't have a nice bag to carry it in. It was meant to be mine. :0)

This $0.50 Jive Turkey is only looking a bit upset because I have yet to dust him off for his photo shoot. I just love to decorate for the holidays. He was too cute and unique to pass up.

I just couldn't fly by this $1 Ceramic Bird in a Nest with Love written on the wings. Birdie Baby you had me at hello!

If you know me, you know I have way too many clothes. So, when at the swap, clothes aren't really on my list of finds. However, I have a weakness for flowy vintage blouses and today I purchased 16 of them! Yep, you read right 16! They were all so adorable and exactly my size and only $0.50 each!  Here is me in one of them. I plan on doing a seperate post on the blouses. To be continued...

That's going to be it on this post my lucky stars! This was not my best haul yet, but still loads of fun! Till next time!
